Blue Coat SG Client Shipped to First Customers and Featured in Mobile WAN Optimization Demonstration at Interop

LAS VEGAS, May 21 // -- Interop -- Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BCSI), the leader in secure content and application delivery, today announced that it will demonstrate its Blue Coat(R) SG(TM) Client product in its booth at Interop(R) Las Vegas, May 22-24, 2007. SG Client, together with the award-winning SG appliance is a WAN optimization solution for mobile and remote enterprise users and began shipping in April 2007. Blue Coat(R) SG Client extends enterprise security, control and acceleration to remote enterprise users, regardless of their location.
According to a Blue Coat survey of over 1,400 IT professionals conducted earlier this year, 82% expected to see an increase in the number of mobile users from their enterprise during 2007. Other industry research has indicated that there has already been a significant increase in the percentage of enterprise employees who are provided with laptop computers instead of desktop computers.
With mobile and remote users comprising a significant and growing portion of all enterprise employees, IT organizations need a unified platform that extends WAN optimization and security controls to individual endpoints. SG Client offers acceleration of files or applications-even within existing VPN sessions-and an extensible framework upon which to later add other Blue Coat client capabilities which now exist in some of its other products, including security, policy control and performance monitoring features. Currently, SG Client incorporates protocol optimization for CIFS and TCP as well as client- side object caching and compression. Other protocol optimizations will be added in later versions this year.
