No-wash board processing systems eliminate need for sealed trimmers...
FULLERTON, CA (December 7, 2006) - Providing design engineers with a lower cost solution for board level interface applications, TT electronics BI Technologies Electronic Components Division has expanded its product offering to include a complete line of open-type trimming potentiometers. The RoHS-compliant single-turn devices are available with cermet, carbon, and conductive plastic elements.
According to Frank Pipitone, vice president of variable products for BI Technologies' Electronic Components Division, the open-type trimmers are a lower cost solution. "The advent of 'no-wash' board processing systems eliminates the need for more expensive sealed trimmers," said Pipitone. "The design of the trimmers in this product line makes them suitable for board level applications in most consumer electronics equipment."
The open-type trimming potentiometers are being specified for a variety of applications, including satellite receivers, modems, LCD displays, set-top boxes, and meters and instruments, as well as entertainment devices, such as cameras, and MP3 players.
The single-turn open-type trimmer product line includes:
o Model 35, 3mm top adjust cermet trimmer, with a power rating of 0.1W, standard tolerance of ±25% and operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C;
o Model 36, 6mm top and side adjust cermet trimmer, with a power rating of 0.3W, standard tolerance of ±20% and operating temperature range of -30°C to +100°C;
o Model 37, 9mm top and side adjust cermet trimmer, with a power rating of 0.5W, standard tolerance of ±20% and operating temperature range of -30°C to +100°C;
o Model 38, 10mm top and side adjust conductive plastic trimmer, with 0.15W power rating, standard tolerance of ±30% (±20% and ±10% available) and operating temperature range of -25°C to +70°C;
o Model 39, 15mm top and side adjust conductive plastic trimmer, with 0.25W power rating, standard tolerance of ±30% (±20% and ±10% available) and operating temperature range of -25°C to +70°C
o Model 40, 6mm top and side adjust carbon trimmer, with a power rating of 0.1W, standard tolerance of ±30%, and operating temperature range of -10°C to +70°C;
o Model 91, 3/8" top and side adjust cermet trimmer, with 0.5W power rating, standard tolerance of ±20% and operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C.
With the exception of the Model 91 devices which feature a resistance range of 10Ù to 2MÙ, all devices in the open-type trimmer product family feature a resistance range of 100Ù to 1MÙ. BI Technologies will also produce devices beyond these specifications to meet customer requirements.
Typical pricing for the open-type trimmers ranges from $0.08 to $0.18 depending on quantity, with lead times from stock to 6 weeks.
