OsteoBiologics, Inc. Announces Launch of TruTunnel(TM) BGS Plug for Ligament Reconstruction Procedures

SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 15 / -- OsteoBiologics, Inc. (OBI), an innovator in tissue repair technologies, announced today the commercial release of the TruTunnel(TM) Bone Graft Substitute Plug (TruTunnel(TM) BGS Plug). The TruTunnel(TM) BGS Plug product can be used in certain ligament reconstruction procedures, such as for the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), to fill voids and compress the graft to the tunnel walls. Designed to be used with other commercially available graft fixation systems, the implant provides additional graft stability and encourages tendon to bone healing. Many clinicians have expressed concerns with existing ligament reconstruction procedures, where excessive graft movement causes undesirable changes to the surgical sites. "The TruTunnel(TM) implant represents one of our first products for ligament reconstruction procedures. Numerous clinicians have been intrigued with the mechanical and biological properties of our porous, resorbable scaffold technology and wanted us to develop solutions that address their unmet needs. Our preclinical studies and initial clinical experiences have been encouraging in identifying how the TruTunnel(TM) BGS Plug can impact clinical outcomes," said Fred Dinger, President and CEO of OBI.

According to market estimates there are over 250,000 ligament reconstruction procedures performed annually in orthopedic surgical procedures involving areas such as the knee, elbow and other joints. The TruTunnel(TM) BGS Plug utilizes OBI's proprietary PolyGraft(R) material technology and is unique by providing a biologically friendly and stable scaffold during the time required for tissue healing.
