BearingPoint Announces Go-Live of Enterprise Asset Management System for Exelon Corporation

One of the nation's largest electric utilities streamlines and standardizes its systems to yield lower maintenance and development costs

MCLEAN, Va., Jan. 25 /- BearingPoint, Inc. (NYSE:BE), one of the world's largest management and technology consulting firms, today announced that it has successfully implemented a consolidation and upgrade of Indus Corporation's PassPort R10, an Enterprise Asset Management software system, for the energy delivery subsidiaries of Exelon Corporation, PECO and ComEd. Headquartered in Chicago, Exelon is parent to two of the nation's largest electric utilities, with 5.2 million customers and $15 billion in revenues.

Exelon engaged BearingPoint to standardize the separate PassPort systems of the PECO and ComEd subsidiaries, which merged under Exelon in 2000. The new solution provides Exelon Corporation with a standardized and streamlined platform, designed to increase user and operational efficiencies across its many operating units and supply chains. It will also support future merger and acquisition activity and reduce application development and maintenance costs moving forward.

"BearingPoint's proven ability to implement performance-enhancing solutions and streamline business processes in the global utilities sector along with Exelon's IT and business support were integral factors that led to the success of this project," said Peter Sarsany, a managing director in BearingPoint's utilities practice. "This engagement further extends BearingPoint's successful track record as a leader in transforming our client's asset management function as part of implementing or upgrading a Utility's Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software suite."

"BearingPoint brought strong technology and business practitioners to the project to create a very high performance team. The upgrades, which were jointly managed with Exelon's IT, went very smoothly and received very positive feedback from the businesses," said Daniel C. Hill, Exelon senior vice president and CIO.

BearingPoint provides a wide range of management and technology consulting services to clients around the world including strategy, system implementation, staff augmentation, offshore services, business case development, and process improvement support. In the utilities sector, BearingPoint provides solutions for its clients' most pressing issues, such as rapid integration of an acquired Utility, replacement of an outdated Customer Care, Billing or Asset Management solution, or the upgrade of a utilities enterprise (ERP) application suite.
