SKF® 'SNL' Housings for Bearings Offer Versatility and Easy Installation
SKF® "SNL" split plummer block housings for bearings mount quickly to pre-assembled shafts and promote proper bearing lubrication, longer bearing life, and reduced maintenance. These two-piece rugged assemblies can handle heavy radial loads in applications such as fans and blowers, conveyors, and other equipment used in countless industries.
Installation is performed easily by attaching housing bases to the base plate, placing housing caps in position, and tightening the attachment bolts. Users can choose between two- or four-bolt base mounting slots for attaching SNL housings to an application.
Standard SNL cast iron housings can accommodate shaft diameters from 20mm to 160mm and the product line incorporates a wide range of sizes, bearing arrangements, seals, type of lubrication, and other options able to satisfy most typical application requirements.
These housings are ideally suited for self-aligning ball bearings, spherical roller bearings, or CARB® toroidal roller bearings lubricated either with grease or oil. Standard seals include double-lip, V-ring, felt ring, labyrinth, heavy-duty "taconite," and end plugs.
Reinforced bases offer enhanced attachment bolt support and improved radial load support. Extra ribs in the housing base provide additional surface area between the base and base plate to allow heat flow away from the bearing to enable cooler running and optimized service life.
SNL housings are equipped with a grease nipple as standard. Cast indications mark locations for additional grease nipples, as well as positions where holes can be drilled for dowel pins or sensors for condition monitoring.
