Beam Coupler suits power transmission applications.

Press Release Summary:

Corrosion-resistant Multi-Beam® helical beam coupler design offers one-piece construction and 1 or 2 sets of flexible elements. Its multiple, 3-start beams handle evenly distributed stresses produced by coupler. Intrinsically balanced, it readily adapts to high speeds without balancing. In sizes up to 2.50 in. dia, Multi-Beam coupler accommodates shaft sizes to 2.0 in. Stainless steel versions have peak torque rating of 103 lbs-ft.

Multi-Beam Couplers Engineered for Power Transmission Applications

GIBSONIA, PA - Huco Engineering Industries Ltd. has reengineered their helical beam coupler design for use in power transmission applications. A development of the helical beam concept, the Multi-Beam® coupler comprises one or two sets of flexible elements, in effect curved beams from which the generic design derives its name. The Multi-Beam® has multiple, 3-start beams with important benefits for power transmission applications.

First, stresses induced in the coupler are spread evenly between the 3 beams, enabling the Multi-Beam® coupler to transmit more power, size for size, than single beam versions. Second, the Multi-Beam® design is intrinsically balanced, enabling it to be readily adapted to high speeds without the need for balancing.

Other benefits of the Multi-Beam® design include single piece construction with no moving parts or elastomeric elements to wear, and backlash free operation with low wind-up. They are manufactured from a single piece of corrosion resistant stainless steel, aluminum or acetal, making them ideal for applications in the food and chemical sectors.

In sizes up to 2.50 inches diameter, Multi-Beam® couplers can accommodate shaft sizes up to 2.0 inches. Stainless steel versions have a peak torque rating of 103 ft.lbs. Clamp or set-screw fastenings can be supplied with keyways and special bore shapes where required.
