Bellevue, WA, USA - Seagull Scientific announced that BarTender was the industry's first label software to achieve Microsoft Certification as Windows 8 compatible. Service Release 2 ("SR2") of BarTender version 10 first shipped on October 12th, two weeks before Microsoft formally shipped Windows 8. SR2 also added compatibility with Windows Server 2012.
"We have always worked passionately to ensure that our BarTender label and RFID software and Windows Printer 'Drivers by Seagull(TM)' provide the very best in Windows functionality and compatibility," said Jeremy Seigel, CEO of Seagull Scientific. "In addition to extensive in-house testing, that also means delivering Microsoft's formal certification as quickly as possible, usually beating the competition by many months."
Existing users of BarTender version 10 (which first shipped in March) can download a free upgrade to SR2 from Seagull's Service Release web page. Users of BarTender older than version 10 with an active Software Maintenance plan also get their updates for free. Other users should visit Seagull's How to Upgrade web page.
BarTender maintains backward compatibility with all flavors of Windows XP, VISTA, and Windows 7, including both 32-bit and 64-bit editions, as well as Windows Server 2003, 2008 and the newly-added compatibility with Windows Server 2012.
