Bar Feeds work with Swiss-style and fixed headstock lathes.

Press Release Summary:

Express® series automatic bar feeds accommodate bar stock diameters from .079-.787 in. while facilitating partial changeovers in 2 min and complete changeovers in 8 min. For partial changeover, operator enters bar diameter, part length, and guide channel diameter, system then automatically sets torque, feed rate, bar stock diameter selection, steady rest diameter, and headstock synchronization. Change of collet size is only mechanical adjustment needed.

Get 2-Minute Changeovers With New Automatic 20MM Bar Feed For Swiss Or Fixed Headstock Lathes

February 10, 2005 Cincinnati, OH - The new Express® series of automatic bar feeds from LNS America, Inc. provides faster changeovers to improve the productivity of Swiss-style and fixed headstock lathes. Express® 220 and 320 facilitate partial changeovers in as little as 2 minutes and complete changeovers in just 8 minutes. Model 220 is for bar stock diameters from .079" to .787" and model 320 accommodates diameters from 1/8" to .787".

The quick changeovers are made possible through the many automatic adjustments built into the machines. Operators simply enter logical and easy-to-understand values through the control keypad. For partial changeovers, for example, the operator enters the new bar diameter, part length and guide channel diameter. The system then automatically sets the torque, feed rate, bar stock diameter selection, steady rest diameter and headstock synchronization. The only mechanical adjustment is to change the collet size for each new bar stock diameter.

These two new models use the same controls and guide channels as previous members of the Express family, so operators will adapt to them quickly and easily. They also share the many safety and performance features common to Express bar feeds, including Intelligent Synchronization, Swiss Safety Connection and a programmable steady rest.

Intelligent Synchronization refers the bar feed's ability to constantly monitor sliding headstock and bar feeding movements, which enables the system to anticipate headstock motion and precisely synchronize the movements of the pusher and lathe headstock. For high speed sliding headstock machines and for special applications such as running bar diameters smaller than 3mm or for materials such as titanium, users can equip the Express with a 3-S Synchronization option. With this option, the headstock is directly connected to the servo drive, thus eliminating transmission delay and guaranteeing perfect synchronization between the pusher and the headstock.
