New LENOX(r) ARMOR(tm) Rx(r)+ Bi-metal Band Saw Blades Feature AlTiN Coating and a Patented Tooth Form for Up to 3x Life

Latest addition to the ARMOR product family lasts longer and powers through structurals, tubing and rounds with less noise and vibration than standard bi-metal blades

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass., September 9, 2004 - LENOX, a leading manufacturer of premium band saw blades, power tool accessories and hand tools, today introduces the latest high performance blade in the ARMOR family of products. ARMOR Rx+, a bi-metal band saw blade featuring a unique, patented tooth form, AlTiN (Aluminum, Titanium and Nitride) coated edge and high performance backing steel can deliver long life - up to three times life when compared with standard bi-metal blades. What's more, ARMOR Rx+ cuts through structurals, tubing and small rounds of mild carbon steels and tool steels with minimal vibration and noise for a straighter, more accurate cut.

The teeth

LENOX ARMOR Rx+ blades feature an advanced tooth design that provides a wider tooth cross section. The increased surface area offers a reinforced cutting surface; one that eliminates tooth strippage and prevents premature failure. This patented design also helps to reduce burring and removes chips quickly for long life, in addition to low vibration and noise levels.

The coating

The LENOX proprietary coating process binds the coating to the blade providing the cutting edges with excellent protection. This coating acts as a defense mechanism against heat build-up and provides an extreme hardness value to the edge of the blade while also protecting the teeth from wear. When combined with the patented tooth design, the AlTiN coating gives users great blade performance and extended blade life.

The backing steel

All of the blades in the LENOX ARMOR product family use an extremely durable high performance backing steel. This backing steel undergoes extensive preparation to better withstand the stresses of structural cutting applications and ensure that the user gets the full benefit of the armor-like coating.

"In the highly competitive global metal cutting industry, steel service centers and production cutting facilities are constantly looking for ways to save time, save costs and do more with less," said Chuck Wahr, director of marketing, LENOX. "The combination of an advanced tooth design, patented coating process and high performance backing steel that is found in ARMOR Rx+ blades can make a significant difference in the number of blade changes necessary and in the overall speed of cutting. Over time, these benefits can positively impact a business' bottom line." LENOX ARMOR Rx+ blades, and the entire LENOX ARMOR family of products can be purchased in varying sizes at LENOX-authorized distributors nationwide.
