Original Press Release:

Ball Transfers for Handling Air Cargo and Baggage Enable Loads to be Moved Easily in any Direction

A new line of ball transfer units available from SKF Motion Technologies has been specially engineered and introduced for air cargo and baggage handling applications. These new ball transfers (Type 3274) enable loads up to 125kg to be moved easily, smoothly, precisely, and with minimum effort in any direction. They serve as durable and rugged alternatives to wheel castors and join a growing family of ball transfers ideally suited for air cargo handling applications.

These stainless steel ball transfers incorporate a unique multi-hole (or "colander hole") drainage system formed in the base of their shell. This feature combats contamination by allowing up to six times the amount of dirt and debris to escape. Quick, effective, and regular removal of debris promotes long service life even in the most severe working conditions.

The new units are offered in 32mm ball sizes and include styles with either two or three attachment holes for secure mounting to floors or other surfaces, where cargo can then be rolled and moved into position, whether for loading, unloading, or storage. The ball transfers are assembled without seals or oil for easy maintenance and reduced friction.

The new units add to a growing product line of ball transfers designed for the air cargo industry. Other types include Heavy Duty, Flange Fixing, and Euro units available as pressed-steel types in a variety of styles and load-handling capabilities to satisfy application requirements.
