Iron Mountain Extends Server Data Protection Portfolio

Company Introduces Connected(R) Backup for Server; Extends Company's "Storage as a Service" Solutions

BOSTON, Oct. 15 -- Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE:IRM), the global leader in information protection and storage services, today announced that its Connected(R) Backup for Server solution is now available. The offering further extends Iron Mountain Digital's data protection and recovery solutions with enterprise file and print server protection, complementing Iron Mountain's Connected(R) Backup for PC and LiveVault(R) server backup solutions.

Iron Mountain's Connected technology, which now supports Windows Server Operating Systems for server backup and recovery, provides customers with unmatched storage savings and reduces backup time. Additionally, the Company's patented data reduction and de-duplication technologies can reduce storage capacity requirements by more than 80% of data volume.

As the original and undisputed number one PC backup solution, Iron Mountain's Connected Backup for PC solution protects more than 2.5 million users as a proven and trusted method for automatic PC data protection and recovery. As an extension of the Connected Backup for PC solution, Connected Backup for Server will now allow customers to manage their PCs and Windows Servers from one console.

"Over a decade ago, Iron Mountain recognized the need for protecting enterprise data on PCs, and pioneered the backup technology necessary to safeguard both desktops and laptops," said John Clancy, president of Iron Mountain Digital, the technology arm of Iron Mountain. "Further expanding our list of innovative solutions, we are excited to introduce the Connected Backup for Server solution as part of our 'Storage as a Service' portfolio. It will not only allow our customers to reap the benefits of automatic enterprise server data protection and recovery, but it will also provide them with ease of mind knowing that their information is guarded by the industry's most trusted provider of storage services."

The Connected Backup for Server solution provides scheduled and automated backups, so enterprise data is always available. The solution automatically protects Microsoft Windows 2003 or Microsoft Windows 2000-based file and print servers as easily and reliably as the Connected Backup for PC solution backs up PCs. The Connected Backup for Server solution seamlessly integrates with Connected Backup for PC solution implementations, saving administration time, and optimizing network and storage resources. The solution includes:

-- SendOnce(R) -- A patented Iron Mountain technology, SendOnce spares businesses the cost of repeatedly backing up multiple copies of identical files, by creating a SendOnce pool of shared files. Since the technology works simultaneously against both server and PC data, only unique server files require space on data center servers.
-- Delta Block(R) -- Another patented Iron Mountain technology, the Delta Block software backs up only incremental changes to existing files, at the block level. This saves the space and bandwidth of repeatedly backing up large files.
-- Data Compression -- After SendOnce and Delta Block technologies have been applied, files are further compressed to minimize their storage footprint.

The Connected Backup for Server solution is ideal for small offices or for Connected Backup for PC enterprise customers with desktops running Windows Server Operating Systems. For multi-server, multi-location end users with higher requirements on continuous backup and proactive monitoring, Iron Mountain offers its LiveVault server backup solution. The LiveVault server backup solution meets more stringent Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) needs and provides additional benefits, including an on-site appliance for rapid restore, TurboRestore(TM), and other features including clustering and 64 bit support.

The Connected Backup for Server solution is available as a subscription service or licensed product. For more information about this offering, please visit: http://ironmountain.com/connected
