Axeda Corporation Awarded European Patents for Innovations That Drive Remote Service Scalability & Security

FOXBORO, Mass., Feb. 4 - Axeda Corporation, the secure remote service and support company today announced it has been granted two key patents by the European Patent Office. The patents protect critical technical innovations that provide enterprise-level scalability and end-to-end security in Axeda® ServiceLink, the company's award-winning remote service software solution.

Providing organizations with the ability to easily grow in capacity as their needs expand is critical to success of remote service initiatives. EU Patent #1350367: "Device Registration Mechanism" protects key technology that saves manufacturers time and money when deploying their remote service solutions by enabling devices to connect automatically without any human intervention. Without this registration feature, devices require manual set-up which slows deployment, and leaves room for configuration errors. The Device Registration patent is part of Axeda's Rapid-Deploy(TM) technology, which also includes Axeda's patented Gateway Configuration capability and the extensible Deployment Utility.
Proven security is also vital to speeding remote service adoption and deployment. EU Patent #1305712: "Reporting the State of an Apparatus to a Remote Computer" -- protects a key element of Axeda's Firewall-Friendly(TM) method of communication over the Internet. The patent protects one of Axeda's inventions relating to enabling remote "devices" (machines, appliances, instruments, and computers) to securely communicate their health and status to enterprise computer systems. This technology provides Axeda customers with a secure method of connecting to the Internet that does not require any changes to IT security policies.
Axeda's latest patents represent a total of nine granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the European Patent Office. The company has other patents pending, both domestically and internationally, that cover various aspects of remote service technology.
