AVST Adds New SIP Integrations to CallXpress®

Unified communications platform enhanced to interoperate with leading VoIP solutions; new server introduced to support IP-based installations.

Foothill Ranch, CA August 22, 2006 -- Applied Voice & Speech Technologies, Inc. (AVST) today announced it has added new SIP integrations to its flagship CallXpress unified communications platform at the VoiceCon® Fall conference in San Francisco. As part of its ongoing goal to support interoperability and offer the most integrations in the market, AVST's CallXpress will support SIP integration to the Nortel Communication Server 1000 and Avaya Communications Manager PBX products.

A leading provider of unified communications solutions, AVST has long been a leader in IP PBX integrations. Continuing that effort, the company is expanding CallXpress' compatibility with the world's leading and most advanced IP communications systems by focusing on SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), a leading IETF signaling protocol for voice over IP (VoIP) solutions. CallXpress will offer integrations to the Nortel CS1000 and Avaya Communications Manager products this year, with plans to provide additional SIP integrations with leading communication products, including the Microsoft® Live Communications Server.

SIP is a preferred integration method for IP telephony applications because it reduces the cost of hardware, provides flexibility in terms of deployment location and remote site support, as well as support for high availability and resiliency initiatives. "Because SIP is a popular protocol for IP telephony, video, instant messaging and presence engines, it is the ideal protocol to be used by unified communications solutions like CallXpress" said AVST's Vice President of Product Management, Tom Minifie. "For companies that are interested in migrating to VoIP either now or in the future, CallXpress can be easily integrated via SIP to IP telephony systems, and at the same time, continue to support legacy PBX systems."

Also consistent with AVST's goal to provide solutions that can grow and adapt to the future needs of its customers, the company today unveiled a new server, the V2000, which is the ideal platform for IP-based solutions. The AVST V2000 server is a rack-mount platform with a 2U footprint and low power consumption. It is ideal for a variety of small to medium CallXpress installations, including solutions requiring up to three voice cards or systems that support IP integration. It can also be configured as a peripheral server and is optimized to run up to 48 ports or sessions of the company's CallXpress unified communications solution.

In addition, AVST now provides a CallXpress Turnkey(TM) option for all of its servers, which enables customers to purchase the T2000, V2000, I4000, and I6000 models pre-loaded with CallXpress software. This option was developed to make deployment easy for system integrators and enable resellers to quickly fulfill orders by delivering the server with all the software pre-installed.

"This is just another example of AVST's commitment to providing best-of-breed technology built to ensure ease of use, simple installation and administration, and low cost of ownership," added Minifie. "Using our CallXpress Turnkey option, final onsite installation is reduced to site specific configuration tasks. System integrators save valuable time by avoiding hardware integration, operating system configuration, and basic software installation tasks."

AVST's popular CallXpress software delivers world-class call processing, voice messaging, unified messaging and advanced speech applications. It is an optimal choice for businesses of all sizes because it increases employee productivity, effectiveness and collaboration at a minimal investment.

CallXpress and the V2000 will be showcased at this week's VoiceCon conference at AVST's booth (#536) on the show floor at San Francisco's Moscone North Convention Center.
