IEMCA BOSS Evolution Series Offers Smooth Running up to Two Inch Diameter Bars

ST. LOUIS, MO - The new IEMCA BOSS 332 & 551 Evolutions automatic bar feeders combine proven, IEMCA design features with the flexibility and reliability of CNC Control. The Evolution is the first 12 foot hydrodynamic bar feeder priced less than $35,000 to run up to two inch diameter stock. Compatible with all CNC lathes and automatics, the BOSS Evolution Series has a bar capacity of 3 to 51 mm. Magazine capacity is 28, 10 mm diameter bars. They are equipped with a quick-change elastic guide channel, permitting the rotation of round, square and hex shaped bars at increased RPM with minimal noise and no vibration.

Setup time has been reduced thanks to a self adjusting bar gripper device and quick change front guide. Bushing bars of different diameter, without guide channel changes, is less than 5 minutes. If channel changes are necessary, setup can be done in less than 15 minutes.

Patented double pusher system reduces the overall length of the feeder, regardless of the machine tool spindle. An oil-lubricated Vulkollan front guide bushing automatically opens to allow the bar pusher to pass through, reducing stock vibration at the spindle and providing excellent part finishes and tolerance holding capabilities. In many cases, the Vulkollan front guide bushing allows for a greater size range of bar diameters to be machined without a guide channel changeover.

The bar feeder cycle and lathe interface are entirely controlled by a reliable, flexible CNC with integrated PLC designed by IEMCA. All operations are monitored in detail, and a hand held display identifies any process deviations before they become problems. Functions are routinely checked that previously required additional devices include: thrusting clutch adjustment during bar feeder cycle; continuous adjustment of feeding speed; checking feeding length; position on lathe fixed stop without any stroke; easy automatic loading of any shaped bar; rear extraction or front ejection of bar remnant; and quick, easy electrical interface with all lathe models. The new hand-held digital push-button pendant permits remote control programming, allowing main operations to be done away from the bar feeder at the lathe.

In 2004 IEMCA is celebrating its 43rd anniversary producing automatic barfeeders for both single and multi-spindle lathes. IEMCA is an industry leader in the design and innovation of bar feeding technology. The company continues to offer the most comprehensive product range in the automated feeding systems marketplace.
