IEMCA SIR 32 & 25 Address Needs of Multi-Spindle Lathes

ST. LOUIS, MO - The SIR 32 and 25 automatic bar feeders for multi-spindle lathes takes the place of the lathe stock reel, thus replacing traditional guiding and bar feeding systems. Bar capacities ranges from 5mm to 32mm with the SIR 32, and 4mm to 25mm on the SIR 25. The guide channels are made of a wear-resistant polyurethane blend. The rotating bar is stabilized with pressurized oil directed through a flow inlet directly into the guide channels. Independent hydraulic motors operate stock feeding. Each pusher is equipped with a steel collet with a polyurethane core that grips the bar during machining and assures remnant extraction during bar change. The patented double pusher system both extracts the remnant end and reduces overall length of the bar feeder. The SIR line of bar feeders are equipped with axial shifting systems for easy lathe maintenance access, as well as lathe spindle liner removal. Change in channel size takes just minutes. A centralized control in the magazine allows its quick adjustment, and a system of self-centering clamps requires no mechanical adjustment. Round, square and hex bars can be easily loaded, while a special device in the feeder allows fore-end bar-facing when required.

The SIR 32 and 25 are both available in a Bundle bar magazine configuration capable of handling 3500 lbs of stock. A special manual feeding feature addresses lower production needs. Both are also available as Rack versions featuring a 19-step chain bar handling system featuring an inclined plane for chain feeding another 200mm of bar diameter. Magazine capacity is twenty five 32 mm bars or sixty 5mm bars. A hydraulic distributor allows the bar feeding either in the feeding station or in any other lathe station, including during the spindle drum rotation.

The operating cycle is controlled by a Seimens PLC which communicates either directly with the lathe control or with other external controls and plant management systems. Operating messages and warnings appear on the keyboard display and make the operator's task much easier.
