AGV Products, Inc. Releases New Laser Guided AGV Line Designed for the User
AGV Products, Inc., a Charlotte, North Carolina based provider of Automated Guided Vehicle Systems has introduced a new vehicle navigation technology and a new line of AGVs.
"The Odyssey vehicle line brings a new level of friendliness and functionality to the robotic world of automated guided vehicle systems. All AGVs in the Odyssey line will be equipped with iCon navigational software. iCon stands for Intelligent Computer Optimized Navigation. The software is simple to use and the vehicles are extremely smart and agile", states Mats Herrstromer, President and Owner of AGV Products.
The Odyssey vehicle line is dedicated solely to laser guided AGV systems. While AGV Products will continue to offer other traditional forms of guidance such as inertial and wire, we realize the distinct advantages of laser guidance and wanted to bring that superior flexibility and maneuverability to a level that will put any customer at ease with the system. Odyssey vehicles, will feature rugged design coupled with precise maneuverability, Pentium PC on-board, laser guidance, laser scanning, continuous RF Communication, operator diagnostics and the ability to make guidepath changes in seconds, with a simple point and click motion. The point and click feature is a vast improvement over most navigation technology available today.
The Odyssey vehicle line consists of fork, unit load and tow style AGVs, as well as specialty or custom designed vehicles. They can be equipped with conveyor decks, side loading capability, special forks and many other load specific features. All Odyssey vehicles are standard equipped with an advanced safety system, including front, side and rear sensors as well as the SICK Laser Bumper detection system, providing seamless integration with your manual labor force and ensuring complete safety.
iCon Laser Navigation software features a Graphical User Interface that provides a simple way to edit guidepath changes instantly, on-the-fly. iCon also features dynamic vehicle routing, dynamic vehicle allocation, deadlock prevention and zone blocking.
"At AGV Products, we are all about listening and responding to the changing needs of our customers and the material handling industry. That is what I feel we have accomplished with Odyssey. This new line of laser guided AGVs is simple, but extremely intelligent. Our first installation will be for Mitsubishi Motors and we expect many other projects to quickly follow" states Mr. Herrstromer.
