BCP Autoblast Roll Conveyor Shotblast Systems Aid Steel Fabricators with Speedier, Higher Quality Descaling

Kentucky-Based Modern Welding Replaces Manual Airblast Process

Ontario, CANADA - (October 10, 2002) - A fully automated BCP® system designed to descale and remove rust from structural steel and plate fabrications, the high productivity Autoblast® Roll Conveyor Shotblast System effectively and consistently cleans large work such as plate, steel channels, angles, tubing and beams. Available in an extensive range of roll conveyor blast cabinets, the Autoblast System includes heavy-duty blast wheels, efficient abrasive recycling, and a high capacity, cartridge filter type dust collector.

The machine's blast chamber features welded construction and highly wear resistant 12% manganese steel construction with in-line, replaceable wear plates. The four (4) - 12-bladed, TargetLok(TM) wheels distribute abrasive at a velocity of 300 feet/per second, while maintaining an even blast pattern over the entire length of the work. A high production material handling system and multiple sets of finger seals provide optimum abrasive retention in the extended length vestibule. The abrasive reclaim system features a screw conveyor; a bucket elevator with multi-ply belt, cast iron buckets, access doors, a zero-speed switch, and a cascade airwash abrasive separator for fine and coarse particle remover.

Designed for use with recyclable, long lasting steel shot, customers can significantly reduce operating costs. One such customer is Kentucky-based Modern Welding that blasts 36" I-beams in the 3672 Roll Conveyor. Formerly using manual airblasting, which was much more expensive, inefficient, and environmentally unfriendly, Modern Welding was impressed by the Autoblast Roll Conveyor Shotblast System's quality and speed-blasting at a rate of 18 feet per minute.

"The Autoblast® Roll Conveyor is an excellent machine, and I believe every fabricator needs one," said George Kauffeld, Vice President and Manager of Modern Welding.

Available options include: vestibule extensions, external spill hoppers, air cannon blow-off, external roll conveyor, PLC controls, abrasive adder, ventilation after-filter, and work sensing.
