Audio Op Amp delivers low noise and distortion.

Press Release Summary:

Housed in SO-8 package, Model OPA1612 achieves 1.1 nV √Hz noise density with ultra-low distortion of 0.000015% at 1 kHz. Rail-to-rail output swing to within 600 mV with 2 W load maximizes dynamic range. Featuring wide supply range of ±2.25 to ±18 V from 3.6 mA of supply current per channel, dual-channel, bipolar-input op amp is suited for professional audio and broadcast studio equipment, microphone pre-amplifiers, and A/V receivers.

Original Press Release:

Texas Instruments' Latest Operational Amplifier Provides Industry's Lowest Noise, Distortion and Quiescent Current

Dual-channel, bipolar-input amplifier delivers leading sound in pro audio applications

DALLAS, Sept. 14 /-- Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE:TXN) today introduced the industry's highest performance dual-channel, bipolar-input audio operational amplifier. The OPA1612, from TI's Burr-Brown Audio line, offers designers 60 percent less noise and 50 percent lower distortion as compared to competitive devices, resulting in clear, crisp sound. The amplifier supports multiple channels without significant power consumption in applications such as professional audio and broadcast studio equipment, microphone pre-amplifiers, analog and digital mixing consoles, high-end A/V receivers and audio test and measurement equipment. For details about this product, please see www.ti.com/opa1612-pr.

Key features and benefits of the OPA1612

-- Bipolar input achieves very low 1.1-nV square root Hz noise density with an ultra-low distortion of 0.000015 percent at 1 kHz to enable clear, crisp audio

-- Rail-to-rail output swing to within 600 mV with a 2 Ohm load increases headroom and maximizes dynamic range

-- Widest supply operation range of +/-2.25 V to +/-18 V from only 3.6 mA of supply current per channel provides excellent dynamic behavior over a wide range of load conditions

-- Independent circuitry delivers lowest crosstalk and freedom from interactions between channels, even when overdriven or overloaded

-- Seamless connectivity to TI audio converters (PCM17xx and PCM16xx) and microphone preamplifiers (PGA2500 and PGA2505) reduces time-to-market

Availability and pricing

The OPA1612 is available today in an SO-8 package for $2.75 in 1,000-unit quantities. The OPA1611 single-channel device is also available today in an SO-8 package at $1.75.
