Atreus Systems Awarded Two Patents for Automated Service Provisioning and Activation

Award-winning Provisioning Technology Delivers Superior Scalability, Reliability and Performance for Converged IP Services

Ottawa, ON - February 25, 2008 - Atreus Systems(TM), the leading supplier of provisioning solutions for converged IP services, announced today that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has approved the issuance of two patents: Patent No. 7,024,470 which covers methods for setting up user self-activating network-based services; and Patent No. 7,134,013 which covers methods for setting up network-based services.

The patent strengthens Atreus' intellectual property portfolio and provides the company with ownership of key innovations that address powerful new capabilities designed to meet the stringent performance and scalability requirements of the world's largest carriers. The issued U.S. patent titled, "Systems and Method for Setting Up User Self-Activating Network-based Services" and "Policy Distribution Point for Setting Up Network-based Services", builds on Atreus' unique provisioning and activation solution, which empowers service providers to streamline the complex processes required to provision any subscriber-based IP service-from Hosted PBX and Unified Messaging to fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) and collaborative business applications.

"Service providers are dealing with the twin challenges of mounting competition and increased operational complexity as they strive to offer high-value services to their customers," said Doug Bellinger, chief technology officer at Atreus Systems. "Atreus' ongoing commitment to innovation helps carriers respond quickly to market pressures and gives them the sophisticated operational and business capabilities they need to deliver converged service bundles."

Atreus Fosters Service Provisioning Technology Leadership

The newly awarded patents are part of a strategic product portfolio that allows Atreus to continue to set the standard for innovation in the service provisioning market for converged IP services. Complementing the patented provisioning technology is an extensive library of service-specific modules that encompass industry best practices for provisioning. Atreus' out-of-the-box service solutions help providers rapidly deliver new services by streamlining the many steps required to successfully turn-up and manage a service. Atreus also provides pre-integrated vendor-specific adaptors for VoIP and IMS application servers, and easy-to-use portals for CSRs and resellers, as well as customer administrators and end users.

Leveraging industry standards, such as OSS/J and eTOM, the Atreus solution is designed to give service providers a wide range of compelling service management benefits including rapid definition and deployment of services at a low cost; flexible, standards-based integration that reduces time-to-market and cost-of-integration; compatibility with emerging, SOA-based back-office architectures; and rapid return on network investment by simplifying and speeding service deployment.
