Astaro Introduces Three New IT Security Products

Astaro adds Next Generation Firewall, Log Management and Data Leakage Prevention to take consolidation of IT security to a higher level

New Delhi: Astaro Corporation (http://www.astaro.com), a leading Unified Threat Management provider, today introduced three new IT security solutions; Astaro Application Control, Astaro Log Management and Astaro Endpoint Security. Together the new technologies represent Astaro's commitment to offering the next generation of Unified Threat Management solutions by providing IT security that extends beyond the perimeter, protects against modern threats and improves administrators' visibility into network operations.

Network configurations and the threat landscape have become increasingly complex, making it necessary for organizations to consolidate their IT security. Astaro has continued their approach of developing a more comprehensive solution to protecting company networks.

"Since Astaro was founded over ten years ago, we have designed our solutions with the goal of simplifying IT security. We continually monitor security trends and solicit feedback from our customers so that we can anticipate the future needs of businesses," said Jan Hichert, Astaro CEO. "This feedback from our customers and partners as well as our own research tells us that companies are looking for a more comprehensive approach to IT security. With innovation as the cornerstone of our business and product strategy we are prepared to offer this next generation of Unified Threat Management products."

As part of the commitment to innovation and offering comprehensive security Astaro will release three new products and features in 2011:

Astaro Application Control adds Next Generation Firewall capabilities that help IT administrators gain visibility into Internet usage, block unwanted applications like Facebook or Ultrasurf and prioritize Internet bandwidth usage. Astaro's application control allows administrators to monitor which applications are being used and by whom. It can limit the use of productivity draining applications while allowing access to applications necessary for employees to fulfill their responsibilities.

Astaro Log Management allows Astaro Security Gateway users to centrally store and analyze log data from all systems and applications. With its error tracking, policy protection and automatic alerts, it can reduce troubleshooting time by up to 80% while helping companies comply with PCI and other regulations.

Astaro Endpoint Security adds Data Leakage Prevention that enables usage control of USB ports, DVD drives and other peripheral devices. Managed by a central Astaro Security Gateway, security agents can be easily enrolled to every device on your local network or even at remote locations. It includes comprehensive reporting features which allow IT administrators to analyze device usage and track the location of each machine in case of theft or loss.

Hichert continued: "Our success in innovating the concept of Unified Threat Management products directly contributed to our unprecedented success in 2010. We expect 2011 to be another exciting year, both in terms of growth and in technological expansion. Moving forward, Astaro will develop more new products and functions that will help companies protect their networks from the modern threat landscape."

Security Landscape in Asia

According to the figures recently released in IDC's Asia/Pacific Semiannual Security Software Tracker report, "most security software markets in APEJ are expected to post strong double-digit growth in 2011. However, organizations are not inherently safe in the IT world."

IDC concludes that "the growth of the security software market is fuelled by the increasingly sophisticated threats and management overheads each organization and user face. The overwhelming personal and confidential information interact and collaborate each other through web applications also exacerbates security threats in terms of information leakage."

Sunil Sapra, Regional Director of Astaro India & South Asia said, "Cyber-crime is on a sharp rise especially in India, and the threat landscape will constantly evolve as technology advances. For example, the increase of electronic communication used among enterprises may result in data being compromised, misplaced or leaked. For many enterprises, installing basic security software such as firewall, antivirus or anti-spam software are not enough to fully protect their networks and data. We have introduced these new products to help enterprises in India combat relevant security threats such as data breaches and in the long-term prevent them from loss of productivity and revenue."
