Aisle-Master 44WH Narrow Aisle Articulated Lift Truck Introduced to North American Market

Increased capacity extends range of safe operation

CLEVELAND, December 2003 -- Aisle-Master Ltd. has recently introduced the Model 44WH to the North American market to increase the lift capacity of the 44 model line in the upper ranges of its lift height. Effectively, customers with narrow aisle layouts will be able to access upper levels of their storage racks with heavier loads than could previously be handled safely.

For example, a load limit of 3,100lb, safely handled at approximately 20 feet, increases over 13% to 3,520lb. Alternately, a load of 3,100lb, safely handled at 20 ft, can now be handled to higher rack sections. These features allow end-users greater flexibility in storage layouts and greater margins of safety when operating at full capacity.

Operating in narrow aisles, the design of the 44WH results in aisle savings of 50%. Warehouse capacity typically increases 30% compared to vehicles designed to operate in conventional aisles of 11 ft to 14 ft.

This articulated, narrow-aisle model offers "rack-to-truck" versatility and capacities to 4,400 lb. It features a 67 horsepower LP gas engine and hydrostatic drive.

The Aisle-Master allows users the versatility to operate indoors and out. Its hydrostatic drive and cushion tires permit yard-handling tasks over semi-rough terrain as easily as it handles narrow aisle pallet-load storage.

The Aisle-Master 44WH can negotiate dock board and ramp angles to operate in truck trailers and railcars. This capability allows warehouse operators to work the vehicle both in rack-storage environments as well as transport vehicles, eliminating staging and double handling.

An articulated design permits the mast, forks and front wheels to turn through 180 degrees so that loads can be placed in pallet openings on either side of the aisle. The Aisle-Master incorporates front and rear-wheel drive for enhanced maneuverability. A side-shifter is standard and the truck can also be fitted with hydraulic fork spreaders to allow the operator to easily accommodate a variety of load lengths and pallet sizes.

Applications include manufacturing operations, DIY providers, distribution centers and retail outlets. Its versatility also allows smaller firms to purchase a single lift truck for general-purpose storage activity, transport-vehicle loading operations, and yard handling -- a combination of benefits usually not found in other narrow aisle vehicles.

"In addition to being a work horse in large facilities it's truly a general purpose vehicle for the owner requiring only one or two trucks for his operation and eliminates the need to have both reach and counterbalance trucks," observes Joe O'Brien, Sales Director at Aisle-Master.
