ARINC Providing High-Speed SATCOM Service for Sweden's New Coast Guard Aircraft

Annapolis, Maryland, USA, July 11, 2007 - ARINC Incorporated has received a three-year contract to provide high-speed satellite data and voice connectivity for new surveillance aircraft ordered by the Swedish Coast Guard.

The three Bombardier Q300 aircraft are being modified by Field Aviation Company Inc. of Canada with several types of advanced radar and a wide range of sensors for environmental monitoring. The planes are scheduled for delivery later this year.

ARINC's GLOBALinkSM/Satellite service using Inmarsat Swift64 connectivity will enable broadband transmission of data, photographs, and voice back to the ground while the planes are in flight. A specially designed communications system will compress all outgoing messages and data for fast, cost-effective transmission.

The new aircraft will be used in many types of coastal activities, including environmental monitoring to fulfill the Swedish Coast Guard's next-generation fisheries and environmental surveillance missions.

"The Swedish Coast Guard has a reputation for deploying the "best in class" of maritime systems, and they are installing the very latest airborne surveillance and communications avionics, " stated Ed Montgomery, ARINC Vice President, Europe, Middle East, and Africa. "ARINC is delighted to be named among their suppliers, who represent the best the industry has to offer."
