Appleton Mfg Division's PLC Panel Takes Core Cutting to the Next Level

The PLC allows operators to enter a variety of cut lengths and quantities to determine the best and most efficient cut combinations needed to produce the order with minimal scrap. In addition, the PLC calculates the necessary quantity of parent cores needed for each order and the amount of core remaining when given varying cut sets. Once a cut combination is entered into the PLC, it is stored in the system and made available for use in future projects, whether it is a project with a duplicate cut set or with slightly different lengths and quantities.
The easy-to-use operator interface makes the P510 extremely simple to operate, allowing project set-up to be streamlined by use of the intelligent, on-screen operating menus, operator prompts and displayed production data. With a free-standing control, featuring an Allen-Bradley MicroLogix PanelView touch screen display, the PLC can be placed anywhere to accommodate every plant set-up and operator preference.
With its innovative technology, the PLC can be integrated easily with Appleton Mfg Division's core cutting enhancement options, including automated parent and cut core handling systems, and printers used to mark cut lengths on individual cut cores. The P510 comes standard with the Allen Bradley MicroLogix 1100 controller, featuring built in 10/100 Mbps EtherNet/IP port for peer-to-peer messaging, online editing functionality, an embedded web server for custom configuration, an isolated RS-232/RS-485 combo port, and an embedded LCD screen. Different PLC models or manufacturers can be provided in conjunction with the Appleton P510 upon request.
