Apertio One-NDS Goes Live at 3

3GSM Barcelona, 12-15 February 2007: Apertio, the leading independent provider of subscriber-centric networks, today announces its Apertio One-NDS, (Network Directory Server), has gone live with 3 in the UK, consolidating key customer data and accelerating application deployment and service time to market.

This initial deployment has delivered a single centralised database for all customer profile and service information and a custom-built RADIUS application to interface to the mobile packet network. The platform can be referenced to lookup customer information by other network/IT systems within the 3 UK network greatly simplifying the creation of new services and allowing subscriber centric applications to be delivered quickly.

The solution is provided on an open, scalable and carrier class platform and will support the rapid development of future next generation services

"3 has made a strategic decision to further expand its open service environment to best map onto its business goals," said Paul Magelli, CEO at Apertio. "By deploying the Apertio One-NDS, 3 has delivered a simplified, IT standards-based architecture, streamlining its infrastructure portfolio and liberating subscriber data to enable the operator to achieve significant cost reduction and improved service time to market."

Graham Baxter, 3 UK, Technical Solutions Director said: "3 is a mobile media company leading the convergence of communications, media and information services over the mobile. The Apertio solution will provide a further enabling capability to ensure that we continue to maintain our leadership. The One-NDS deployment has not only allowed us to manage the cost and complexity of our current operations, but has delivered an enabling platform on which we can continue to expand our unique service portfolio at an accelerated rate."

The Apertio One-NDS was selected based on the scalability, high availability and superior performance of its technology, and its complimentary vision of creating open, subscriber-centric networks.

The Apertio One-NDS went live in 3's core packet network in January 2007.

"Apertio executives will be available to press in Hall4, HS36. Please contact Chris Gent to confirm a briefing"
