ZRC Worldwide Introduces New Low-VOC Anti-Corrosion Coating
Marshfield, Mass. (March 22, 2006): ZRC Worldwide, the world's leading manufacturer of zinc rich anti-corrosion coating products, has introduced "ZRC-221". This new product retains the proven anti-corrosion properties of the company's flagship ZRC Cold Galvanizing Compound while offering a lower, more environmentally friendly, volatile solvent (VOC) level of only 221 gm/L.
"After 3,500 hours of accelerated laboratory anti-corrosion testing and years of severe, exterior exposure field testing, we are very pleased to introduce a new ZRC formulation that offers another alternative to our customers located in areas where VOC levels are strictly monitored and controlled" stated Matthew R. "After successfully releasing our new ZERO-VOC ZRC, a two-component, water-based zinc coating containing no solvent, we received several requests from customers asking for another new coating retaining the easy-to-use, single-component feature of our regular ZRC but at a lower VOC level and, of course, maintaining the level of corrosion protection expected of ZRC. ZRC-221, having been in its design and planning stages for some time, was ready to fill the need."
VOCs are generally produced from the binder and reducing solvents in a zinc rich compound and are highly regulated by both the U.S. Government and individual state environmental protection statutes. While standard ZRC is very low in VOC content (meeting the standards in all of the 50 states), the new ZRC-221 compound is even more environmentally friendly.
