New Balluff Analog Laser Sensor Provides 2 m Sensing Distance
Analog and digital outputs and rugged aluminum housing make the Balluff BOD-66M the flexibility winner for a wide range of tough industrial applications
FLORENCE, KY (February 14, 2002) - The new Balluff BOD-66M analog laser sensor allows low-cost, long-range, continuous measurement of parameters such as distance, height and length in industrial applications.
The sensor's 2 m range and new-technology background suppression make it ideal for accurate long-distance sensing. Analog and digital outputs enhance flexibility for industrial automation, where the sensor's teachable setpoint feature can provide a discrete digital PNP output when a target reaches a specified distance.
With a sensing range of 200 mm to 2 m and resolution of < 5 mm, the BOD-66M is ideal for a variety of automated assembly, quality control and dimensional measurement applications in packaging, material handling, pharmaceutical, automotive, food/beverage and paper/textile industries, including:
* roll diameter monitoring
* height detection and sorting of parts and boxes
* level detection on fillers or vertical boxing machines
The BOD-66M uses laser triangulation to determine distance to objects. Target distance corresponds to the sensor's analog output voltage (0-10 Vdc). Class II laser and special CCD Line technology provide extended range and improved background suppression capability to accurately detect targets of various colors and materials.
The BOD-66M's tough aluminum housing is sealed to IP65 and works in temperatures from -20° to 50°C. Powered by 18-30 Vdc, the sensor provides temperature drift compensation and protection against short circuits and reverse polarity. Function and status LEDs speed setups, while the 5-pin straight or right-angle micro-style connector allows quick and easy wiring.
