Emerson Releases Enhanced Web Capabilities for AMS Suite: Intelligent Device Manager

PlantWeb additions to AMS Device Manager increase Ovation support, and improve online information to help users quickly focus on looming operations issues from anywhere in the plant

AUSTIN, TX (July 15, 2004) Emerson Process Management has released version 2.0 of its Web Client for AMS Device Manager, providing additional value through online monitoring and reporting, including support for FOUNDATION fieldbus devices with Emerson's Ovation expert control system. Web Client 2.0 strengthens AMS Device Manager, the industry's first application to add web-based access to instrument and valve diagnostics. The power of the web brings users timely decision support by offering secure access to device information from any PC in the plant.

As part of AMS Suite, AMS Device Manager powers Emerson's PlantWeb digital plant architecture to improve availability and performance. The added power of version 2.0 allows Web Client users to configure the alert monitor, enabling them to quickly focus in on critical field devices and ensure proper function or capture device alerts which are also viewable from a company's secure intranet. Web Client 2.0 also offers easy user access to graphical representation of the calibration results of field devices. The detail data is recorded and available in reports printed from the Web Client as well.

With the enhanced Audit Trail capability in version 2.0, users can manually enter and record events in Audit Trail, allowing useful information to be related to the device records for later reference. Version 2.0 of the Web Client also includes support for FOUNDATION fieldbus devices with Emerson's Ovation expert control system.

"We are continually investing in our AMS Suite of applications to maintain our position as the leading supplier of comprehensive technologies and services that help our users manage their production assets and optimize their economic performance," said Craig Llewellyn, president of Emerson's Asset Optimization division. "By using the Web Client 2.0 for secure yet easy access to live diagnostic information, users can maximize the benefits that come from having multiple disciplines working together to improve the performance and availability of critical plant assets."
