AMETEK Displays 3U Single Box PV Emulator at Solar Power International Show

High-Performance Testing of PV Inverters in a Production Test Environment for Ensuring Final Test Data Validity

DALLAS -- Solar Power International -- AMETEKProgrammable Power (www.programmablepower.com) announces a 3U single box PV simulator. The standalone Solar Array Simulator (SAS) leverages the same AMETEK Windows®-based software as the turn-key TerraSAS solutions.

AMETEK is showcasing its TerraSAS solutions at the Solar Power International Show, Dallas, TX, October 18, 2011, Booth #323, Hall A.

The TerraSAS single box simulator was designed to bridge the gap from a research and development environment to a production environment, while maintaining continuity of performance, accuracy and user interface.

"Our goal is to provide a standalone PV simulator for the production testing of PV inverters that offers the same precision MPP tracking capabilities as our successful TerraSAS solutions. This approach ensures the accuracy and validity of final test data of the PV inverters," notes Dan Donati, Vice President, AMETEK Programmable Power Solutions.

AMETEK Programmable Power, through its Elgar brand of solutions, has supplied solar array simulators for more than 20 years for ground-based satellite test systems. Turn-Key TerraSAS Solar Array Simulators for the residential and commercial inverter industry are available as single or multi-channel systems from 5kW-1MW (80V-1500V).

The TerraSAS single box PV Emulator will be available as single-channel 3U 10kW (1000V) system and shipment will begin in Q1 of 2012.

AMETEK Programmable Power is a division of AMETEK, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with annualized sales of $3.0 billion. More information can be found at http://ametek.com/.
