Alltech's Sel-Plex 1000 now OMRI Listed

[Lexington, Kentucky]- The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) has approved Alltech's application for Sel-Plex 1000. This approval makes Sel-Plex 1000 the third product Alltech has listed with OMRI.

Since 1993, Sel-Plex 1000 has been a standard organic selenium source in animal diets around the world. With OMRI listing, Sel-Plex 1000 can be readily included in all organic feeding programs across the United States and is approved for use in organic farming.

"Alltech is committed to registration and upholding regulatory values in markets around the world," said Steve Traylor, Global Director of Regulatory Affairs. "With a dedicated focus to standard and specialized regulatory issues, Alltech can offer our customers the piece of mind that they can confidently use a product that is not only well researched, but one that has gone through the proper channels and declared safe for sale. We offer high quality, traceable solutions that can be incorporated in a variety of feeding programs."

The United States Department of Agriculture stated, "Consumer demand for organically produced goods has shown double-digit growth for well over a decade, providing market incentives for U.S. farmers across a broad range of products. Organic products are now available in nearly 20,000 natural food stores and nearly 3 of 4 conventional grocery stores. Organic sales account for over 3 percent of total U.S. food sales, according to recent industry statistics."

"Selenium is an essential nutrient for both animals and people, and plays a critical role in metabolism, normal growth, reproductive health, and immunity," stated Alltech president and founder, Dr. Pearse Lyons. "Because of its specific organic form, Sel-Plex selenium is better absorbed and retained by the animal. Sel-Plex provides selenium in nature's form - the safest form."

Sel-Plex is also the only FDA reviewed form of organic selenium, and is the first strain specific form of organic selenium to be EU approved for all species (Strain: Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-3060).
