NetShape Technologies Develops Unique Tribaloy®T-400® Material for Metal Injection Molding Components

Unique Alloy Alleviates Design Limitations on Engineers and Economic Constraints on Purchasing Agents

Solon, Ohio – NetShape Technologies, Inc., an Ohio based manufacturer of high volume and complex metal injection molding (MIM) components, has expanded its diverse material selection with the introduction of a Tribaloy®T-400® MIM component capability.  The unique alloy is a low carbon cobalt-chromium-molybdenum material used in applications requiring excellent wear and corrosion resistance properties in temperatures reaching as high as 800°C.

The addition of the new alloy to the NetShape material portfolio complements a broad list of current Netshape MIM materials that include stainless steels, low alloy steels, tungsten based alloys, controlled thermal expansion alloys, and soft magnetic alloys.

“Tribaloy®T-400® material is inherently difficult to cast, form or machine, so the material is typically applied using a thermal spray technique over another alloy that has been formed.  Using our MIM process allows the creation of a fully complete Tribaloy®T-400® component while avoiding the difficulties of machining and the added expenses of variability with the thermal process,” said Matthew Bulger, vice president, business development for NetShape Technologies.  “Overall, the emergence of this unique material in MIM promises to alleviate the design limitations faced by engineers, and the economic constraints that can plague purchasing agents.”

NetShape is well positioned to provide further customer value by complementing the new material advantage with the MIM technology of producing complex metal components in high volume while eliminating expensive process steps.
