Low-cost Clip-On Temperature Sensor
Advanced Thermal Products' clip-on temperature sensor assemblies provide a low cost option for those applications where ease of installation is important and there is a need for the sensor to have good thermal contact with a copper tube. The design consists of an epoxy coated NTC thermistor that is part of a unique internal construction to seal the sensing element from the outside environment. Standard internal constructions can also be accommodated where the application does not require moisture resistance. The sensor assembly is thermally tied to the pipe via a specially designed copper clip. The design of the clip allows the housing to be quickly and easily installed onto a straight section of 3/8" copper tubing and to remain snug even after being removed and installed numerous times.
For maximum accuracy, it is best to wrap a thermally insulating material over the sensor assembly. This is especially effective when there is a large temperature gradient between the tube and the outside air temperature.
