Alba Utilizes Economic Slowdown as a Springboard to Redesign Cost Savings into its Pre-engineered Products

Fairfield, OH - April 3, 2009 - Although the condition of the US economy has forced some companies out of business, Alba Manufacturing is still going strong and has utilized the slow down as an opportunity to look for, find and make improvements as well as cost savings changes throughout its company and their products.

During Alba's recent redesign evaluation, Alba utilized their 35 years of conveyor design and build experience to focus on performance enhancements and cost reduction. Two products that were streamlined were the drag chain and transfer conveyors. The first of the changes incorporates the use of standardized components. This change helped to reduce the equipment's cost, and engineering content. The second change was to utilize a center drive configuration. The center drive is now an Alba standard and will allow the customer the ability to reverse the conveyor direction and more importantly allow for smoother transitions due to the use of smaller end sprockets at both ends of the conveyor. All of the changes were done in an effort to reduce cost and speed up production. While it is important to identify ways to reduce cost, Alba has managed to maintain the same high quality product that Alba's customers have come to expect.

Alba Manufacturing serves a diverse customer base across many industries, including but not limited to canned foods, carbonated beverages, paper goods processing, automotive, distribution and laundry equipment. Products and services include pre-engineered lengths of gravity and powered conveyor, true tapered curves, pallet stacker/dispensers, drag chain conveyor, zero pressure accumulation conveyors and transfer cars.

Alba's current mission is to continue to grow their existing distribution and OEM network throughout the US, Canada and Mexico and to further grow inside of the material handling industry. To support this new mission Alba has appointed three National Account Managers and has increased their internal sales and customer support staff. Alba's goal is to provide their distributors with quick and reliable assistance.
