airBand Communications and Linksys to Launch First Trial of Hosted IP Communications Solution for Small Businesses

Linksys One Complements airBand's Existing Enterprise Offering with a Converged Platform for Voice over IP and Data Networking

DALLAS and IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 24 -- Linksys and airBand Communications Inc., the largest fixed wireless company for business customers in the United States, today announced that they are conducting the first trial of the new hosted IP communications platform from Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems, Inc. airBand is positioned to be the first U.S. service provider to deploy the Cisco Systems Service Node, which provides call routing and provisioning in support of the Linksys One solution. The trial will be launched in Dallas with up to 20 businesses.

The Linksys One platform provides VARs and end-user customers with a turnkey and easy-to-install solution that supports business-quality voice, video, data networking, business applications and Internet access through a single high-speed connection. It is designed to eliminate the hassle associated with certifying and configuring a customer's LAN to support Voice over IP (VoIP) and provides industry leading, end-to-end security, monitoring and network management to the desktop phone. The platform is also unique in the plug-and-play nature of the underlying technology, which automates the network discovery process and configuration of new CPE and system upgrades.

"We have collaborated with Cisco and Linksys to bring this solution to market because we believe it augments our product portfolio, enabling us to deliver integrated, plug-and-play VoIP and data services," said Mark F. Spagnolo, president and CEO of airBand. "We believe that Cisco's market leadership in building voice and data networks will translate into similar success with this platform in the hosted services environment."

"airBand is a market leader in deploying business-quality integrated voice and data services to businesses," said Marthin De Beer, Linksys vice president and general manager of the Linksys Small Business System Business Unit. "airBand's contributions to the development of the platform have been integral to bringing the Linksys One platform to market."

airBand and Linksys have scheduled a series of events in January and February to demonstrate the power of the Linksys One solution to Value Added Resellers (VARs) and provide them with access to the training required for certification. Specific dates and times can be accessed on the airBand and Linksys One web sites at www.airband.com and www.linksysone.com respectively.
