Aggregator Tap features independent port control.

Press Release Summary:

Distributed Port Aggregator Tap enables remote management, network visibility, and high bandwidth monitoring on Gigabit infrastructures. Device allows 4 independently controllable ports to monitor up to 12 network links. Each network port can also be independently configured for inline/span deployment. All 12 network ports operate at 10/100/1000 Mbps, while 4 monitoring ports are made up of 2 gigabit SFP modules and two 10/100/1000 UTP ports.

VSS monitoring Introduces the World's First Distributed Port Aggregator Tap with Independent Port Control

BURLINGAME, Calif., Oct. 19 /-- California-based tap manufacturer VSS monitoring, Inc. has just released a new distributed tap -- the 10/100/1000 12x4, multi-port aggregator -- which enables remote management, greater network visibility and higher bandwidth monitoring on Gigabit infrastructures.

This new device allows 4 independently controllable ports to monitor up to 12 network links. This enables the end user to have each monitoring server view different (or identical) groups of networks simultaneously. Each of the 12 network ports can also be independently configured for inline/span deployment.

The 12 network ports operate at 10/100/1000 Mbps, while the 4 monitoring ports are made up of 2 gigabit SFP modules and 2 10/100/1000 UTP ports. The speeds of the UTP ports operate independently, allowing for further deployment flexibility. All network and monitoring port configurations, along with other management options can be controlled either locally or remotely via standard management interfaces.

"This new port aggregator offers unparalleled application opportunities for every end user with multiple monitoring servers," says CEO Terence M. Breslin. "Not only can a few servers be leveraged over 12 networks but when these units are deployed in a hierarchical architecture their independent port control feature enables the entire infrastructure to be selectively monitored with the same servers at a fraction of what it would cost using other distributed analyzer solutions." Breslin adds: "The scalability and cost/benefit of this product marks the beginning of a new paradigm in network monitoring where deployment architectures and related costs will change dramatically."
