AeponaT Announces OMA DM Enhancement to its Market Leading Device

New Aepona DMST Module Being Demonstrated at Booth #1954 at the 3G World Congress, Hong Kong, 14-18 November, 2005

Belfast, November 14, 2005 - Aepona, the developer of enabling software for telecoms service delivery, has announced a further key development of its highly successful Device Management System (DMS) - currently in use by 19 operators worldwide. At the 3G World Congress in Hong Kong it will be demonstrating its Configuration Assistant Module for DMS 5.0.

In a similar way to the popular Microsoft(TM) Windows(TM) Update utility in PCs, the Configuration Assistant allows direct handset to server connectivity between subscriber and operator - allowing configuration as well as fault diagnosis and repair of mobile devices. The module also supports firmware over the air (FOTA) upgrades as well as provisioning of handsets for new applications and services.

According to Paul Shore, Aepona's Director responsible for device management solutions, "this represents a sea-change in how operators will support their user base. Instead of text messages upgrading the device, Configuration Assistant allows direct connectivity between the operator and OMA-DM compatible devices such as the Sony Ericsson K750i, Motorola V635 and Nokia Series 60 devices. These handsets will be provisioned, maintained and upgraded in a similar way to PCs - through direct over the air connectivity. Operators will be able to provision devices more readily and ensure they are optimised for the latest revenue generating services. From the subscriber point of view, handset upgrades are simpler, more intuitive and less invasive than is currently the case. The new standards allow us to build upon our product expertise in device management and will allow us to further develop our market leading position."

The Aepona DMS Configuration Assistant module conforms to the OMA DM V1.1.2 standard and provides the initial SMS bootstrap for initial phone configuration - and ongoing support for direct HTTP based configuration. No special client needs to be loaded on the phone - ensuring that a wide array of OMA DM compliant phones can be supported.

Aepona will be demonstrating DMS 5.0 and the Configuration Assistant Module at the 3G World Congress in Hong Kong, 14-18 November, 2005.Booth number 1954.

About Aepona

Aepona is a provider of telecommunications software that enables innovative service delivery solutions for operators worldwide. Aepona's products are deployed by fixed-line and mobile carriers on three continents enabling rapid roll-out of cost-effective, value-added and customer loyalty enhancing services.

Aepona provides a market-leading standards-based device management solution - Aepona DMS - used by leading mobile operators worldwide.

In addition, the Aepona CausewayT suite of products addresses three key pain points felt by operators: the need to integrate disparate technologies in their networks, the requirement to gain access to ready-made network applications, and the necessity to create compelling customer propositions quickly. Aepona Causeway is a standards-compliant suite of products that includes network integration and service interaction management components. The suite supports SS7 and SIP for existing and converged networks, allowing operators to gain immediate value from service delivery platform, fixed-mobile convergence, next generation IN or new applications initiatives.

Aepona is at the forefront of convergence in telecoms - providing the necessary infrastructure to allow operators to maximise their investment in both circuit-switched and packet-switched networks. Aepona provides an important stepping-stone in the evolution path from traditional intelligent network (IN) services to IMS - the IP multimedia subsystem.

In short, Aepona is at the forefront of the evolution towards better, more service-rich, communications networks.
