Aeluros to Showcase its EDC Technology at Upcoming OFC|NFOEC Exposition

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 23 - Aeluros, a leading supplier of low-power CMOS-based 10G PHY/SerDes (serializer/deserializer) solutions, today announced that it will be showcasing its integrated 10G PHY/SerDes/EDC (electronic dispersion compensation) devices for limiting and linear SFP+ applications through interoperability demonstrations with SFP+ modules from Avago, ExceLight, Finisar and Picolight at the upcoming OFC|NFOEC exposition in Anaheim, CA on the 27th-29th March, 2007. Interoperability testing for the EDC devices has focused on 10G Ethernet traffic testing, overload testing and a comprehensive stressed receiver sensitivity test. The test set-up included various lengths of printed circuit board between the module and the 10G PHY, and industry-standard test platforms for verifying link integrity through the optical stress pulses as defined in the IEEE 802.3aq standard.

"We are happy to announce this interoperability demonstration between our low power EDC/SerDes devices and SFP+ modules from various vendors," said Stefanos Sidiropoulos, CEO of Aeluros. "This type of intensive interoperability testing is not only critical towards providing inputs for finalizing the SFP+ MSA specification, but also verifies that our EDC engine is compatible with the current generation of key linear SFP+ modules available today."

Aeluros's EDC Technology on display:

o Aeluros will demonstrate the performance of its EDC technology in
its booth (#2877) at the OFC|NFOEC exposition in Anaheim, CA.
Besides the standard stress test pulse performance, we will also
showcase the dynamic stress-test performance and the effect of
overload on the EDC performance.

o Interoperability of Aeluros's current generation of 10GbE
PHY/SerDes/EDC devices with SFP+ LRM modules from Avago, and the
AEL1001 device with Avago's limiting SFP+ SR modules will be
demonstrated at Avago Technology's booth (#2741) at the OFC|NFOEC
exposition in Anaheim, CA.

o Interoperability of Aeluros's current generation of 10GbE
PHY/SerDes/EDC devices with SFP+ LRM modules from ExceLight will be
demonstrated at Aeluros's booth (#2877) at the OFC|NFOEC exposition
in Anaheim, CA.

o Interoperability of Aeluros's current generation of 10GbE
PHY/SerDes/EDC devices with SFP+ SR modules from Finisar will be
demonstrated at Aeluros's booth (#2877) at the OFC|NFOEC exposition
in Anaheim, CA.

o Interoperability of Aeluros's current generation of 10GbE
PHY/SerDes/EDC devices with SFP+ LRM modules from Picolight will be
demonstrated at Picolight's booth (#2270) and at Aeluros's booth
(#2877) at the OFC|NFOEC exposition in Anaheim, CA.

"Multi-vendor interoperability testing between different EDC implementations and SFP+ optical modules is a crucial step towards the finalization of the SFP+ MSA specifications," said Dan Rausch, Strategic Marketing at Avago Technologies.

"ExceLight is pleased to show interoperability of our newly introduced linear SFP+ modules with Aeluros's EDC/PHY device," said Eddie Tsumura, vice president of marketing at ExceLight. "Our low-power, FP-laser based modules, in combination with the Aeluros EDC/PHY device, are well situated to drive the adoption of the SFP+ form-factor across a number of diverse market segments."

"Finisar has been a key player in driving SFP+, and we are pleased to participate in this interoperability demonstration between Aeluros's 10GbE devices and Finisar's already announced 10G SFP+ SR product," said Rafik Ward, director of marketing, Finisar. "The combined solution will give designers the confidence they need to design SFP+ into their next generation networking equipment."

"We have shown interoperability between our SFP+ modules and Aeluros's EDC technology at earlier industry-wide interoperability test venues," said Vidya Sharma, vice president of marketing at Picolight. "Our innovative approach utilizing 1310nm vcsel-based SFP+ modules along with Aeluros's EDC/PHY technology provide the systems' customers with yet another potential solution for high-density, low power optical interfaces."

Reference platforms for dense SFP+ applications (switch systems):

Aeluros will also demonstrate a dense 24-port reference design for a 10GbE switch system with an SFP+ front end and a 24-port switch chip. This system will showcase the compact front-end designs made possible by SFP+ module form factors, Aeluros's small device footprint and the overall low power consumption of the combination. The typical combined power dissipation for the SFP+ module and Aeluros's EDC/SerDes PHY device is significantly less than a comparable XFP-based solution for similar functionality (optics to XAUI) - which is in the 3.3W range, and meaningfully less that comparable 10GBASE-T solutions (serial to XAUI) - which are in the 8W-10W range today. These reference platforms will also be displayed at Aeluros's booth (#2877) and will showcase Aeluros's EDC devices interfacing with linear, limiting and copper- based (twin-ax) SFP+ modules.

Aeluros's SerDes/PHY devices and EDC technology will be on display at the OFC|NFOEC exposition in Anaheim, Ca, from 27th March to 29th March, 2007. To schedule a demonstration, or for more information, please contact info@aeluros.com or call 650-917-2016.
