Acoustics Modeling Software features multi-core support.

Press Release Summary:

To accelerate calculations, ODEON 11 includes ray-radiation pattern based on Fibonacci spiral. Program also offers multi-core support, allowing multiple grid calculation points to be processed simultaneously. Users can specify parameters to be calculated and displayed for certain project, and preferences can also be saved in user-defined templates. Expanding default set of parameters, program lets users define their own parameters if they are not available.

Original Press Release:

New Room Acoustic Modeling Software from Bruel & Kjaer

Brüel & Kjær has launched a flexible, faster and more comprehensive version of room acoustic prediction software - ODEON 11.

This latest version enables users to perform their calculations twice as fast, as previously, with the addition of a new ray-radiation pattern based on the Fibonacci spiral. This spiral provides the same calculation precision, but with half the number of rays.

ODEON 11 also has multi-core support, allowing multiple grid calculation points to be processed simultaneously. The more cores, the faster calculations can be performed. With a quad-core processor, for example, grid processing will speed up by a factor five, as - combined with the new ray-tracing technique - job calculations will be ten times faster than they were previously.

Users can specify the parameters to be calculated and displayed for a certain project. Preferences can also be saved in user-defined templates. ODEON 11 combines this with a new, general way of defining room acoustic parameters, enabling expansion of the default set of parameters. This means if the exact parameter a user needs is not available, they can simply define it themselves.
