ACE Exhibits Range of KISS Selective Soldering Systems at IPC Midwest 2011

Spokane Valley, Washington, USA - ACE Production Technologies will exhibit a range of selective soldering technology and systems at IPC Midwest Exhibition & Conference, September 21-22, 2011. Shown in the ACE booth, #236, will be the KISS-104 and KISS 101B selective soldering machines, plus ACE's new Programmable Fluxer and Dual Nozzle feature. The trade show will be held at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center, Schaumburg, Illinois.

The KISS-104 is a completely automated "in-line" selective soldering system, handling boards up to 18" x 24". It has a SMEMA pass-through conveyor that features automatic conveyor width adjustment and a "crowder" to facilitate positive location of the board. The PCB is maintained stationary during the soldering process preventing components from toppling over causing "unset" inter-metallic fillets. The KISS-104 couples high throughput with precise process controls. The programmable features provide the tools to set all process parameters, including immersion depths, pre-heat dwells, travel distances and speeds, solder temperature and wave height.

The entry-level, affordable KISS 101-B has all the capability needed to perform all required selective soldering functions, including programming, camera assisted alignment, spray flux application and the capability to take advantage of all ACE soldering nozzle technologies. The KISS 101-B is suitable for lead-free solders and can reduce hand soldering operations by up to a factor of 10, resulting in Return on Investment of just a few months.

The KFS-VAF Volumetric Atomized Flux Applicator controls and dispenses atomized flux material on demand via a user-programmable control system. Unlike other atomized fluxers that require a mechanical adjustment every time the spray density needs to be changed, the ACE KFS-VAF doesn't require any mechanical adjustments. The spray volume and width is determined and set by user-programmed control parameters; thus, varying amounts of coverage can be accomplished as needed on the same PCB in process.

ACE's new dual nozzle option for its KISS family of selective soldering machines brings significantly greater flexibility and efficiency to the selective soldering process. The dual nozzle feature allows two differently-sized nozzles to operate in tandem, each one individually programmable, to handle a wide range of component types and sizes on an individual PCB assembly during the selective soldering process.
