Dortronics Introduces Wiegand Access Control Keypads

New Keypads Deliver Higher Security And Easy System Expansion.

Las Vegas, NV (November 11, 2003) - Dortronics Systems, Inc.'s 8160 Wiegand Output Keypads directly interface with access control systems that accept the 26-bit output requiring users with access control cards or proximity devices to enter a PIN code into the keypad to gain access. The keypads, available in 26-bit Wiegand and 8-bit Word output configurations, provide a cost-efficient and easy means of enhancing the level of security for most new and existing access control systems.

"By incorporating the 26-bit Wiegand and 8-bit Word protocols, our 8160 Keypads are easily integrated into the latest software-driven access control systems. The addition of these keypads at each access entry point significantly increases security since it requires a second form of authentication - a PIN code -- that cannot be easily lost or stolen," said John FitzPatrick, Vice President, Dortronics Systems, Inc.

Dortronics 8160 Wiegand Output Keypads are both waterproof and vandal resistant so they can be employed in virtually any environment. Narrow doorframe and single gang styles are available to satisfy a variety of mounting applications.

By connecting Dortronics 8160 Wiegand Output Keypads to the access control computer, the keypads can provide detailed information on access/egress activities by user. Different levels of access can also be programmed into the system's computer for specific users.
