Miniature ICP® Accelerometer Weighs Only 0.2 Grams

June 24, 2002, Depew, NY - Model 352C23 ICP® accelerometer, from the Vibration Division of PCB Piezotronics, Inc., offers miniature size and light weight for installation into space-restricted locations and onto delicate structures. The unit minimizes mass loading of the test article, weighs a mere 0.2 grams, and occupies only a 0.11 x 0.23 inch (2.8 x 5.7 mm) footprint. The device is ideally suited for vibration studies and stress screening applications of miniature components, circuit boards, disc drive mechanisms, cellular phones, PDAs, and other electronic items. In addition, the unit fulfils modal analysis and structural testing requirements on brackets, solar panels, and other satellite components.

The adhesive mountable sensor is structured with a shear mode, piezoceramic sensing element, and built-in signal conditioning microelectronics, to produce a clean, 5 mV/g output signal. Frequency response spans from 2 to 10 kHz and resonant frequency is greater than 70 kHz. Additional features include an anodized aluminum housing, electrical ground isolation, 10,000 g shock limit, 3-56 coaxial electrical connector, and an included, removable 10 ft. (3 m) low-noise cable.
