300 Watt AC/DC Power Supply Fits in Standard VME System Backplane

High Power-Density, Low Profile Unit Designed for NAVMAT Compliance

Bohemia NY -- North Atlantic Industries (NAI) has announced the availability of a high power-density, low profile, AC/DC Power Supply for VME/VXI and General Purpose applications. The 56SQ2 provides 300 Watts of output power at full load, with an operating temperature range of -55°C to +85°C measured at the thermal seating plane. It provides the 4 outputs (plus a 5th standby output) typically used in VME systems. Its compact design allows for wedgelock conduction cooling and it is designed to be installed in a standard VME System Backplane. With its low noise output and rugged design, the 56SQ2 is ideally suited for military and aerospace programs, including airborne, shipboard, ground mobile and C3I applications. The 56SQ2 is designed and manufactured to NAVMAT component derating guidelines and each unit receives ESS screening, including burn-in and temperature cycling. The unit includes EMI filtering per MIL-STD-461E and input transient protection per MIL-STD-704E.

The 56SQ2 has a universal input which operates from a 110Vac to 242Vac, 47 Hz to 440 Hz, and can be configured for either a single-phase or three-phase source, which provides outputs of +5 Vdc, +3.3 Vdc, ± 12 Vdc, and +5 Vdc (standby). Efficiency is 75% typical. The unit includes numerous fault protection features, including temperature monitoring, input transient protection, continuous short circuit protection (with automatic recovery), output current limiting, and output overvoltage protection. A Power Fail Warning is provided when the input is insufficient to provide full-power output. An Output Enable is provided to disable the DC Output. Additional features include remote error sensing, a choice of signaling options, and a 20 millisecond Holdup Time.

Pricing for 100 pieces of the 56SQ2 is $3,200 each. Delivery is 12 weeks ARO.

"The 56SQ2 gives our customers a low profile AC/DC, VME compatible Power Supply in a compact, rugged package," said Mike Oliveri, VP of Sales and Marketing at NAI. "They particularly like its built-in EMI Filtering, transient protection, fault protection, and NAVMAT design compliance."
