A10 Networks Announces General Availability for its AX Series Application Acceleration Switch

Industry's best price/performance application switch includes multi-CPU architecture to accelerate high volume and bandwidth intensive network applications

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 22 -- A10 Networks® today announced general availability (GA) for its AX Series, the industry's best price/performance application acceleration switch. Tuned from the ground up for multiple CPUs, the AX Series helps enterprises and ISPs maximize application availability through a high-performance and scalable application delivery platform. With its Advanced Core Operating System (ACOS), the AX Series is the next-generation application acceleration platform that is capable of accelerating high volume and bandwidth intensive network applications such as voice, video and data, during peak usage conditions -- today and in the future.

"A10 Networks' AX Series is the industry's best performing application acceleration switch with an optimized multi-CPU architecture that is exponentially faster than other systems on the market today," said Lee Chen, founder and CEO for A10 Networks. "Multiply these performance benefits at every gateway and you begin to see why our customers are so excited. With the AX's performance, rich features and management tools, network administrators can now solve application traffic problems quicker and resolve performance bottlenecks before they occur."

The AX Series includes the following features and technology:

o Revolutionary Advanced Core Operating System (ACOS) that leverages
modern system architectures.

o Tuned for multiple CPUs and multiple cores.

o aRule policy editor allows for customization of features.

o Improves user application response times and scales server farm

o Reduces HTTP bandwidth requirements.

o Industry's best SSL acceleration and L4-7 acceleration. Hardware-based
SSL acceleration is included in every AX model.

o Supports IPv4 and IPv6.

o Industry standard Command Line Interface (CLI) and easy to use
Graphical User Interface (GUI).

o Carrier-grade hardware components.

o High performance switch/route ASIC, SSL acceleration ASIC and A10's
Flexible Traffic ASIC.

The AX Series is available immediately in four different models: the AX 2000 for enterprises; and the AX 2200, AX 3100 and AX 3200 for enterprises and ISPs. Integrated 10-Gig support is included in the AX 3100 and AX 3200 models.

Advanced Core Operating System (ACOS): Optimized Multi-CPU Architecture

The Advanced Core Operating System (ACOS) -- built by A10's team of distinctive engineers with high performance L2-3, L4-7 and super-computing expertise -- is the distinguishing technology that makes the AX Series stand out in the application acceleration market. Many of the incumbent vendors' solutions are based on legacy architecture that is not designed to address the greater scale of Internet traffic and security requirements -- for today and tomorrow. In order to address the need for speed, vendors continue to move their single-CPU software solutions to more powerful multi-CPU application acceleration systems. But without the complete redesign of the software, performance benefits as a result of more powerful hardware will never be realized.

A10's AX Series with ACOS includes an optimized multi-CPU architecture, built from the ground up. It has maximum per-CPU independence with near zero interference among CPUs. ACOS linearly and concurrently scales processing resources in true parallel fashion. By evenly distributing application traffic to the system's processors, ACOS eliminates performance bottlenecks caused by unevenly loaded processors -- allowing applications to perform as desired, especially during peak usage conditions.

"The A10 team used its super computing chops to develop its own Advanced Core Operating System (ACOS), which can perform high-speed parallel processing without slowing down to distribute or copy packets across multiple CPUs," said Jon Oltsik, senior analyst for Enterprise Strategy Group. "This algorithm is more efficient than other industry devices and ACOS is supported by A10's custom ASICs, which are added to its devices to achieve a foundation of line-rate switching and routing to keep the devices humming along."

A10's AX Series is a finalist for Best of Interop 2007 in the "Application Networks and Performance" category. For more information on A10 Networks' AX Series application acceleration switch, visit: http://www.a10networks.com/products/axseries.html

Demos at Interop: Speed Matters

A10 Networks will exhibit in booth 2475 at Interop Las Vegas 2007, May 22-24, 2007, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Within its theme coined "Speed Matters," A10 will conduct live performance demos of its AX Series application acceleration switch. The company will also display its EX Series bandwidth management appliance with identity-based reporting, and IDsentrie network identity management appliance.
