16-Bit 200ksps Multichannel ADC Offers Low Power with Excellent Linearity

MILPITAS, CA - June 1, 2004 - Linear Technology Corporation introduces the LTC1867, a 16-bit, 8-channel, 200ksps analog to digital converter (ADC) offering low power without compromising speed or linearity. The LTC1867 draws only 1.3mA at full speed - roughly one-third the power of competing devices. The supply current automatically drops at reduced speeds, typically to 750uA at 100ksps and 200uA at 10ksps. This device maintains excellent DC performance, offering 16-bit no missing codes over temperature and ±2 LSBMAX INL. The LTC1867 is ideal for low power applications such as portable instrumentation, industrial process control and medical applications.

The LTC1867 offers an easy to use multiplexer and serial interface. The multiplexer allows any combination of single-ended inputs or differential inputs in either unipolar (0V to 4.096V) mode or bipolar (±2.048V) mode. The accuracy of the ADC is independent of the shift clock frequency, allowing these parts to operate in opto-isolation or very low power applications.

The LTC1867 also comes in a 12-bit version, the LTC1863. Both are available in SSOP-16 packages offering a pin compatible family for performance/cost optimization in end products. The LTC1867 and LTC1863 are available in the commercial and industrial temperature ranges.

Pricing begins at $7.75 each for the LTC1867 and $3.85 each for the LTC1863 in 1,000-piece quantities.
