A/D Converter delivers 16-Bit performance at 10 MHz.

Press Release Summary:

Housed in hermetically sealed, 40-pin ceramic TDIP, Model ADS-939 accurately samples full-scale input signals with no missing codes up to Nyquist frequencies and across full operating temperature range. It provides signal-to-noise ratio of 82 dB and total harmonic distortion of -86 dB at Nyquist input frequency. Able to operate from ±5, ±12, or ±15 V supply, Model ADS-939 dissipates 1.5 W. It is offered with ±2.75 V bipolar or 0 to -5.5 V unipolar analog input range.

Original Press Release:

ADS-939 Sampling A/D Converter Delivers True 16-Bit Performance At 10MHz In A Fully Integrated Package

o Small, functionally complete design requires no external components and promotes high reliability
o No missing codes over full military temperature range
o Improved performance pin-for-pin replacement for C&D's ADS-935
o COTS and MIL-COTS based equivalents

The ADS-939 sampling A/D converter from C&D Technologies is a fully integrated data acquisition system that gives true 16-bit resolution performance at a 10MHz sampling rate over the entire operating temperature range, up to full Military. The functionally complete design requires no external components and is housed in a small, high reliability, hermetically sealed, 40-pin ceramic TDIP.

Typical applications include medical imaging, radar, sonar, communications and instrumentation.

The rising edge triggered ADS-939 is ideal for use in both time and frequency domain applications. It accurately samples full-scale input signals with no missing codes up to Nyquist frequencies and across the full operating temperature range. The dynamic performance of the new device has been optimised to give a high signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio of 82dB and total harmonic distortion (THD) of -86dB at Nyquist input frequency.
The specification of the ADS-939 includes a fast-setting sample-hold amplifier, a sub-ranging A/D converter, an internal reference, timing/control logic, and error-correction circuitry. Digital input and output levels are TTL.

Able to operate from a ±5V, ±12V or ±15V supply, the ADS-939 dissipates just 1.5 Watts - half the power consumption of the ADS-935 (16-bit, 5MHz) A/D converter for which it is a pin-for-pin replacement. The new device is offered with a bipolar (±2.75V) or a unipolar (0V to -5.5V) analog input range.

Variants are available to address applications with both commercial (OºC to +70ºC) and military (-55ºC to +125ºC) temperature ranges.

Pricing is under $700 in OEM quantities, with lead-times of 6-8 weeks.
