48pp Koenig & Bauer Web Press Destined for Austria

KBA Compacta 618 to strut its stuff at a-PRINT

Southern Austria's sole web offset printer, a-PRINT Bogen- und Rollenoffset Druck in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, is expanding its press fleet with a 48pp Compacta 618 commercial web offset press from Koenig & Bauer (KBA). The high-performance, high-automation press is scheduled to come on stream this coming summer.

Hardware and software perfectly dovetailed

The KBA Compacta 618 for a-PRINT will have a cylinder circumference of 1,240mm (48.8in), a maximum web width of 1,450mm (57in) and a maximum speed of 45,000iph. It will be configured with a KBA Pastomat reelstand embedded in a Patras A automated reel-transport system. One feature new to commercial offset will be KBA RollerTronic automatic roller locks, which eliminate the need for irksome, time-consuming roller adjustment and reduce roller abrasion. They also promote stable printing conditions and reduce energy consumption. Along with automatic colorimetric control and colour-register control the new press will incorporate KBA EasyTronic to maximise time savings and minimise waste during start-up and run-down.

The Compacta 618's heavy-duty P5 pin folder and KBA section stitcher support a wide choice of production options at web speeds of up to 15.5mps (3,051fpm). The company's existing Compacta 215 will be integrated in the new Compacta's KBA LogoTronic Professional production management system for job scheduling, press presetting, machine- and production-data capture.
