Solidworks Releases First 3D CAD Industry Product to be Certified for Windows Vista
SolidWorks Edition for Windows Vista delivers enhanced user experience plus advanced search, preview, and content distribution
CONCORD, Mass., Nov. 30, 2006 - SolidWorks, a Dassault Systemes S.A. (Nasdaq: DASTY, Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) company, today announced that SolidWorks® 2007 software is the first 3D CAD product available and certified by Microsoft Corp. for the new Windows Vista operating system, once again putting SolidWorks customers first in line to enjoy important new capabilities.
SolidWorks Edition for Windows Vista delivers an enhanced customer experience, empowering customers to work more effectively and design better products. It takes advantage of a wide range of Windows Vista features that optimize efficiency and visual interaction. Customers will also experience the benefits of Windows Vista through applications in the 2007 Office system that are integrated with SolidWorks software.
SolidWorks Edition for Windows Vista users will immediately enjoy an improved user experience, including the premium Windows Aero user interface effects. The new interface provides translucent windows, dynamic reflections, and smooth animations. These effects will help customers focus on their content rather than the tools and interface, reducing software overhead.

In addition, Windows Vista presents SolidWorks customers with new capabilities for search, preview, navigation, and content syndication. For example, SolidWorks software is fully integrated with the powerful new Instant Search feature in Windows Vista and expands on it by incorporating deep knowledge of how 3D CAD users work. As a result, Instant Search will return the results that SolidWorks users seek, whether from the hard drive, the SolidWorks Toolbox, or repositories associated with PDMWorks® software and the 3D ContentCentral® service. This integration enables design teams to accomplish more work in less time.
Windows Vista's productivity features will benefit SolidWorks customers such as Leatherman Tool Group. The framework will give users much more information without requiring them to open the documents. SolidWorks Edition for Windows Vista will also take advantage of the RSS feed capabilities in Windows Vista, giving SolidWorks a new, efficient way to deliver tips, notices, and event information to customers.
