360 Degree Ship Bridge Simulator Upgraded to WUXGA and Auto-Calibration by Electric Picture with Partners, Digital Projection & Scalable Display

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Scalable Display Technologies, a leading provider of software for automatic edge-blending, Electric Picture, a leading systems integrator, and Digital Projection International (DPI), an Emmy® Award-winning manufacturer of high-performance projection systems, today announced completion of a system upgrade to STAR Center's training simulator in Dania Beach, FL.

The 16' tall, 360 degree immersive, ship bridge training display was upgraded to increase resolution, color, and improve ease of maintenance.  The projection system features nine (9) DPI HIGHlite 660 WUXGA projectors with built-in Fusion warp and blend capability.  The HIGHlites are 3 chip, dual lamp projectors designed for improved color saturation, which is required for this demanding application.

Scalable Display Manager software automatically calibrates the warp and blend for the display.  Scalable Display Manager is a patented, camera-based system that provides STAR Center the ease of use of "one touch" calibration.  This installation also features projector-based color matching.

Scalable and DPI have collaborated over several years to ensure compatibility of their products for both the ProAV and simulation markets.  Scalable has worked with Electric Picture on many installations over the years.

"The display at STAR Center is a great example of the Scalable partnerships in action" said Andrew Jamison, CEO of Scalable Display Technologies. "Electric Picture functioned as Quarterback and guided STAR Center to a rock solid solution."

"We could not be more pleased with the partnership demonstrated in the installation" said Mike Levi, President of Digital Projection Inc. "We are proud to be working with Electric Picture on this important installation, and we are very happy they chose Scalable for the warp and blend automation.  It is good to see such partnership at work in the distribution channel."

"The DPI Scalable team has been wonderful to work with" said R.P. Higgins, President of Electric Picture Display Systems. "We feel the end product was the best and most cost effective solution for the customer and is a great example of a "state of the art" projection system."

"This team worked together very effectively to provide a turn-key solution resulting in a brighter display with higher resolution while increasing the vertical field of view and reducing the number of projectors" said Brian Long, Director of STAR Center.  "This truly seamless display is the best I have seen in my 29 year career in maritime simulation."

Availability

Scalable Display Manager with Fusion, HIGHlite & TITAN Quad compatibility is available immediately.

Scalable Display Manager and DPI projectors will be demonstrated at this week's InfoComm13 exhibition taking place at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando FL, June 12-14, 2013
