Using Assured Recovery and WANSync for Fully Validated Offsite Backup
WALTHAM, Mass., Nov. 16 - XOsoft, a leading provider of continuous application availability software solutions, today announced a solution that mitigates risk and lowers costs by letting organization's disaster recovery replica server double as a server for performing offsite backups. With replication and Assured Recovery, an organization can add two layers of protection to its disaster recovery capabilities at once: remote replication for disaster recovery with automated failover for business continuance and fully validated offsite backup.
From a technical perspective, the combination of XOsoft's technology allows a backup to be performed on an offsite replica server using the same application based validation procedures that would occur on the production server; thereby eliminating additional costs and security risks associated with transporting the backup to the remote facility.
Through the combined solution, organizations can validate the replica server environment without disrupting IT production systems. This is critical because in an ordinary replication scenario, replicated data does not lend itself to use for backups since there is no way to ensure the data is in a consistent, "backup-ready" state. However, this changes when Assured Recovery is added to the solution because it is designed to perform in-depth testing of the recoverability of the application on a replica server without disrupting the production server, the replication process, or the automated failover protection mechanisms. In addition to supporting full disaster recovery testing without disruption, Assured Recovery has built-in mechanisms for performing a backup or snapshot of application data in precisely the same way that it is performed on the production server.
