World's Largest Neidlein Face Driver Installed by LMC

LMC Workholding recently installed the world's largest Neidlein face driver at TST Inc. in Ontario, CA. This specialty FSB 85 face driver, up to 40" in diameter, 210" long and weighing over 20,000 lbs, will be used to machine bar stock into billets for aerospace and defense applications. An older model lathe with manual tailstock and manual chuck will still be used to hold this new face driver.

Neidlein face drivers quickly grip and turn a workpiece from its end, allowing the entire part to be machined in just one operation, including cutting off the ends and eliminating the need to flip the part. Mechanical face drivers allow turning applications to have increased flexibility to lower cycle times and allow large interrupted and heavy cuts. Neidlein face drivers offer fast set-up, quick change overs, improved part quality, reduced cost and lower maintenance.

LMC Workholding engineers and manufactures high quality chucks and standard and special workholding equipment, including international style power chucks and cylinders, wheel chucks, high volume machining power chucks, Neidlein face drivers and centers, Atling hydraulic steady rests, Richter manual steady rests, Stiefelmayer specialty clamping tools, Chandox brand chucks and cylinders and T de G large chucks.
