Where Has 20 Years Gone?

Being an entrepreneur is a calling as much as being a Police Officer; a Teacher; or a Priest. Most business owners are created from a skill or interest that they have dabbled in for years; researched for months; and implemented from their living room or garage. The natural progression is for growth in accounts receivables to force the once "hobbyist" to hire employees, invest in equipment, buy a store front and become a legitimate entity.
"I had a burning desire to run my own company, but had no special talents or business acumen to start a company," stated David Fairbanks, CEO of Avatar Packaging, Inc. "We started this business from the ground up; with no experience in corrugated boxes; an unemployed friend; $10,000.00 in capital; and a wife who shouted, "If you go into business (and it better not be a bar) and it fails ........you owe me $10,000.00!"
It is from those humble beginnings that I ask myself where has 20 years gone? Has anything changed? Are we different?
Everything has changed in the way we conduct business. Gone are the hand-written quotes; waiting on the mailman; daily trips to the Bank; and happy hours with clients on Friday nights. In with internet marketing; emailed purchase orders; computerized checking; electronic transfers of funds; and contact with customers through social networking sites on Tuesday mornings.
However, we have never wavered from our original mission of making quality corrugated cartons for the small to medium end user at affordable prices. We have always been and continue to be, "Tampa's Boxing Champs." We are deeply moved by the many people who have helped us to stay in business for 20 years. To all of you......a sincere Thank You.
